Meet Mekanikingenjören Max

Hi Max! Tell us more about yourself.

Hi! I’m a mechanical engineer and a hobby craftsman. I earned my bachelor's degree at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, USA. Throughout my career, I’ve focused primarily on new development across various industries that interest me and, in different ways, contribute to a better world.

What inspired you to become an engineer, and where does your interest in product development come from?

When I was around 10 years old, I read a book about a group of students designing and building their own rockets to reach space during the Space Race. These students were only a few years older than me, and somehow the book sparked a curiosity within me. From that moment, my future direction fell into place somehow.

What motivates you and gives you energy?

I think it’s the challenge of finding the simplest and most elegant solution to a complex problem and realizing it with the highest quality. It’s a demanding and exciting challenge!

You joined us in 2017. What has happened since then?

Yes, it’s been a while now. I’ve worked on several long-term projects around Stockholm and Uppsala area. Twice, I’ve been involved with DeLaval, contributing to projects related to their rotary milking parlors E300. Additionally, I’ve worked on product improvements in the marine industry at MJP and contributed to projects in the defense sector.

Alongside my role as a mechanical design consultant, I’ve also served as a mentor for new employees at our Stockholm office and organized various team-building activities, such as after-work events for the team.

Max Schineller - Landskap

How does your passion for product development reflect in your personal life?

I love woodcarving in my spare time. It’s all about seeing the finished object within the raw wood — a pure collaboration between yourself and the material. Sometimes, the design needs to change mid-process due to unforeseen issues, like a crack caused by a rotten knot. It’s a similar mindset and problem-solving approach to what I experience in the product development work I do at the office.

How do you prefer to spend a day off?

I mostly spend time with my family. Sometimes we stay home, and I make pancakes, but more often, we go for walks in the forest near where we live. Otherwise, I enjoy carving spoons, bowls, and other items.

You’re now in your eighth year with us! What do you value most about being part of our team?

It’s my colleagues and the great atmosphere they create that has kept me here all these years – and counting!
